Letterboxing & HEAT

From: Kris Buquet (KBuquet@ApertureFoto.com) | Date: 2003-05-06 16:26:33 UTC-04:00
Hello all,

I will soon be traveling ot sunny AZ for about a month or so and plan on placing a few boxes while there.

My question is, has anyone ran into any problems with placing boxes in generally hot areas such as AZ? It may sound silly, but I am worried about the heat drying out the boxes and maybe wearing down their "strength" as the temps rise and stay constant throughout the summer.

Any thoughts....?

I use my Tupperware in the microwave and it gets pretty hot. Not sure
about the stamps, book should be fine. I wouldn't put an ink pad or
pen in the box. Good luck from a transplanted Phoenician (PHX, AZ,)

Just my thought, Psychomommy

I've been to the "Superstitions Letterbox 1" last winter, and it's
been there a couple years (I had previously been there in 2000), it it
gets rather hot where the box is, and it seemed to be doing fine,
although the stamp itself (an eraser stamp) was starting to yellow.

I recommend that box for anyone that likes to do nice hikes, although
winter months are recommended.
